NCCI class code 5183, Plumbing NOC & Drivers, is a common starting point for plumbing contractors. It does not automatically absorb every related operation. Make the submission match the business
- Break out service, repipe, new construction and drain/sewer percentages.
- Disclose excavation and maximum trench depth.
- Explain hot-work controls and water-damage prevention.
- Maintain certificates and contracts for subcontracted labor.
- Use payroll and job-cost records that survive the premium audit.
Where a service description stops
A Boca Raton plumber clearing interior drains and replacing fixtures presents a different operation from a crew opening pavement, trenching to a sewer lateral or replacing underground mains. Calling both “service plumbing” hides the part an underwriter most needs to evaluate. List excavation even when it is a small share of revenue, say whether employees or a subcontractor perform it, and keep the supporting certificate.
